Salford City Council will welcome a new Director of Adult Social Care, Lee Calvert, in spring 2026, joining the Adult Social Care and Health Partnerships Care team.
Lee joins from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, where he has spent the past three years as Director of Adult Social Care, leading significant improvement and transformation across services.
Prior to his current role at Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Lee held senior roles in Adult Social Care and Health at Cheshire West and Chester Council where he worked for ten years.
With a strong track record of leadership, a clear commitment to adult social care and a values-driven approach that puts people at the heart of services, Lee will take lead responsibility for the delivery of statutory adult social care services to support and improve outcomes for Salford residents through a joined-up care approach in the city with delivery partners.
His focus will be to continue to drive forward the priorities for adult social care in Salford reflected in the council’s corporate plan, ‘This is our Salford’, and one of its seven strategic objectives ‘Healthy lives and quality care for all’, which aims to see more adults supported to live as independently as possible and stay safe and healthy.
Chief Executive at Salford City Council, Stephen Young said:
"We are delighted to welcome Lee to the council and the Adult Social Care and Health Partnerships Care team. This team plays a fundamental role in our local communities, supporting people to live independent lives while enabling health improvements and preventing ill health. Social care is a key priority for the council as we focus on supporting residents to live healthier, more independent lives for longer. We look forward to Lee joining us next year in his new role."
Ahead of his arrival, Lee said:
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining Salford City Council and to take on the role of Director of Adult Social Care. Returning to the north-west means a great deal to me, and Salford has such a strong reputation for its ambition, values and commitment to improving people’s lives. I’m really looking forward to working with colleagues across the council and with partners to build on the great work already underway and to help shape the future of adult social care in the city.”
